Omani Girl Wins Oman’s First Sudoku Championship

Marwa Al Wadhahi, 19, took just 12 minutes to complete a very complex puzzle created by former Sudoku world champion, Thomas Snyder, at Oman’s first-ever Sudoku challenge organised by Black and White magazine. Marwa, who competed against eight other Sudoku wizards at the final of the first ‘You Play Sudoku’ contest, was a clear winner as she topped the competition at all stages.
The event brought the spotlight not only on Sudoku in Oman, but also raised much needed awareness on autism in Oman, thanks to the presence of the American autistic savant, George Widener. Marwa won some exciting prizes, including an ORIS Limited Edition watch, a Samsung 40-inch TV, netbook, a voucher for overnight stay for two at Al Nahda Resort & Spa, one KIMS care card from KIMs Oman hospital and gift voucher from Staedler. Kalpana, Madhvi and other finalists also won gifts.
